Είναι Διδάκτωρ του Οικονομικού Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών και κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού τίτλου στην Οικονομική Επιστήμη και Οικονομετρία. Διετέλεσε Επικεφαλής της Διεύθυνσης Διαχείρισης Κινδύνων στην Emporiki Bank, Crédit Agricole Group (2005–2013), μέλος του Δ.Σ. της Τειρεσίας Α.Ε. και του Επιστημονικού Συμβουλίου της Ελληνικής Ένωσης Τραπεζών (ΕΕΤ). Κατά τη διάρκεια της καριέρας του έχει εργαστεί ως Σύμβουλος Διοίκησης στα πεδία του Στρατηγικού Σχεδιασμού και Προγραμματισμού της Εμπορικής Τράπεζας και της Alpha Bank. Έχει διδάξει Μακροοικονομική, Τραπεζική και Διαχείριση Κινδύνων στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς και το Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών. Έχει γράψει τέσσερα βιβλία, ένα εκ των οποίων έχει βραβευτεί από την Τάξη των Ηθικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών της Ακαδημίας Αθηνών το 2003 (από κοινού με τον Γ. Προβόπουλο) καθώς και πολυάριθμα άρθρα σε ακαδημαϊκά επιστημονικά περιοδικά όπως, μεταξύ άλλων, το European Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Policy Modeling, Corporate Governance, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, Scottish Journal of Political Economy, Managerial and Decision Economics και Economics Letters. To 2014 ανέλαβε Επικεφαλής Οικονομικών Μελετών και το 2022 Chief Economist.

He holds a PhD from the Athens University of Economics and Business and an MA in Economics and Econometrics. He was Head of Risk Management at Emporiki Bank, Crédit Agricole Group (2005-2013) and served as member of the BoD of Tiresias S.A. and of the Scientific Council of the Hellenic Bank Association (HBA). During his career, he served as Advisor to the Management on Strategic Planning at Emporiki Bank and Alpha Bank. He has taught macroeconomics, banking and risk management at the University of Piraeus and the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is the author of four books, for one of which (co-authored with G. Provopoulos) he received the Award of the Class of Ethical and Political Sciences from the Academy of Athens in 2003, as well as numerous articles in academic scientific journals such as, inter alia, the European Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Policy Modeling, Corporate Governance, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, the Scottish Journal of Political Economy, Managerial and Decision Economics and Economics Letters. He was appointed Head of Economic Research in 2014 and Chief Economist in 2022.
